Track Oriented Event-HELP!
This is where I need help,I need someone or some people who have this type of experience putting events together and the like to guide me into making this happen. Whether it is with contacts or step by step instructions etc. I guess the first step would be to find out interest in participation and where the centralized location could possibly be held and then try to procure that venue?
Please someone with more knowledge chim in, I am willing to do the work necessary but just not sure how to proceed.
Any takers?

I have never run one, but I think trying to get the track to ourselves would be very expensive, not to mention you would want liability insurance, and I suspect the number of qualified instructors in the 928 community may be too few.
I would suggest, as we have discussed in the past, getting people to agree to go on a track day with a club that was receptive to the idea. Watkins Glen would be a good candidate in the northeast, as it is 928 friendly. Perhaps Summit Point or VIR in the mid central area.
If you put my car together, I will do it all for you

I agree we would need to organize with an established entity such as a PCA region track day or the like and instructors in just our little organization I am sure are few, but I am hopeful that there are people out there with the right connections or names of the right connections that we could proposition to help us put something like this together. I would also like to some how get the likes of Mark Anderson,Mark Kibort Carl Fausett etc to attend. I'm sure that would also help to draw attendees which could also help fund the event.
Also, I am not suggesting the OC pay for it! Sponsorship help yes because this is also to promote membership but the attendees and various vender sponsorship must foot the bill. Heck maybe even make it a yearly pilgramige of our own every year!

I don't think you recall how many parts my car is in, and how far it has to go...
You would probably need to get the event farther west to get those gentlemen racers to attend. There was two Road America meetups by 928 racers (I did not make them) and many stories as a results.
There might need to be something of significance to entice them all, although that wasn't the case last time. I think Mark Anderson, Joe Fan, Don Hanson, David Lloyd and John Veninger were there at one time. I think Mark Kibort made it the second year. Jean-Louis Piquet was there at least one year as well. I don't know that Carl was racing at that point: forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/928-forum...at-road-america.html

I'm thinking that we would have to find a PCA region or the like that has trouble finding participants to fill out their DE days and buy out one of their days or at least a bunch of their slots that we could fill with committed OC members and try to build around that day or days with other activities and tech stuff.
Who is the person or what is the position in the region that is responsible for organizing track days? Maybe James Morrison could shed some light on this part of the process as he heads his region?
By the way, If I assemble your race car, can I drive it?

PCA regions have "Track Chairs" but you might just want to talk to the Driver Education (DE) registrar of the region. I expect the registrar of your home region would know the registrar of other regions. If you identify the track you want to use, I will identify the person to coordinate with at least. Locally I know HCP and HVR are usually looking for more attendees, so if it were just a local WG event they would be good candidates. David Lloyd had an unofficial 928 track day at WG with CVR and I think we had @12 show up, but most were nearly stock.
If you assemble it, you would have to test drive it
