I drove a 82 at the 3rd coast event in Texas and that car could stop.....be even better with newer rubber.

Might be worth considering a fresh set of hi perf pads and new rubber........save on $$ and much r&r time........remember bigger brakes need bigger wheels.

Brilliant post, Malcolm. I think you echo my thoughts about brake upgrades. I understand the cosmetic reasons for doing brake upgrades. Aside from that reason, all 928s have excellent braking ability as stock. A brake upgrade would be one of the very last investments that I would consider making in a 928 unless a very unique opportunity came along that allowed me to do it for an exceptional price.

Ive got a 79 928 and just got an S4 with a blown motor basically for free...Ive been thinking of doing the brake swap too...heck...thinking of swapping as much as I can over from car to car if any of it is really an improvement.

i swapped in a set of GTS brakes due to a good deal i got. but the stock S brakes i had were damn good.....

Installed 330's up front & 300's rotors on the rear with Wilwood 4 piston calipers all around on my 80. I sanded the Wilwood script off & had Ben at Legend Garage powdercoat, clear & stencil them. Contact: xschop over on RL, he makes adapter's that make it super easy & less expensive. No need to change out spindles either. A little cutting on the dust covers & your good to go. If you want to go really big, xschop is now making adapters for 6 piston calipers up front & installing them on his 78. T

Nice upgrade, I don't think I'll need that much braking even though My perception has always been You can never have too much braking power. ndfrspd
