Today I removed the motor mounts. Not that difficult. Great procedure here in the tech library. Slight mod required to put the Volvo versions in. Also good process in library. Also taking time to torque oil pan bolts. Have to remove the starter to get at the rear two bolts.

Tomorrow assembly starts.

I torque to 6 lbs each. I wound up removing the starter and getting the two bolts up there as well. They were very loose. At least two complete turns. Leak seems to be holding for now.

Put the new motor mounts in today. Aligning all the bolts was the hardest part.

I have pics of the bad mounts that I removed. Engine height is 1 inch higher!

Exhaust lines up in the heat sheilds vs. hanging below.

Virtually EVERY 928 needs motor mounts replaced at this point and doing so REALLY smooths them out!

Transmission Mounts are next to go after MotorMounts. They collapse.

While removing the entire assembly, I had a great view of the tie rods, ball joints upper and lower.

They are shot!

I am ordering the tie rods and lower ball joints. Question at this point is do I need to do the upper control arm as well. This adds about 600 deer to the overall process plus spring/strut removal.

I am inclined to forego the upper and just do the lower and tie rods. Any advise?

Yes those upper A-arms are pricey, Talk to Mark at 928intel I believe either him or Roger have a rebuild program.

I installed the 928MS uppers so now I have to mod my alignment as they are shorter, but thats what shims are for.
