This probably isn't the right place to ask, but I will risk it anyway...
My car reports 129,999 miles (do not know if correct) and I assumed the gears would be fine. After reading this, I am a little worried. What are the signs that it is no good? Any measurements I can take? I'd hate to go through all of this and the gears be worn out. I mean, they look fine, but they may be terrible for all I know.

Assuming that the car is still assembled, start with a good light and a good straight-edge. Check for visible wear on the tops and sides of the teeth.
Mileage is only one of the factors that determine the wear. A belt that is too loose (flapping) or too tight (increased pressure and friction) is a bigger factor.

All of the gears appear to be equal to this one, which is the passenger cam gear. I guess these are still pretty dang good, right?
