John, if I am not mistaken then the only practical way of doing it is to attach the rod to the lock cylinder first. Then reassemble. 928 doors are tricky. It is hard enough to remove the lock cylinder without breaking down the entire latch assembly and pulling it from the door shell. I can only imagine trying to reinstall it that way.

John,
The ball on the back of the lock can be pushed onto the plastic rod - just need to get inventive.
I assume the plastic rod is still attached to the door lock mechanism?

thanks so much for the info guys, it's all done and back in working condition. what a car, i love it. btw, the electric door lock was replaced before, and when i removed it the upper bolt on the lock was too long and i wouldn,t have found it if i wouldn,t have removed it myself. the bolt was hitting the swival connecter and it would lock up and stop the locks from working, thanks again , john
