Tires and Cold Weather

Yeah, but think about how much more sideways driving and drifting you can practice....

I have a '97 BMW 528 that is RWD, throw on the snow tires and turn off the stability control and learn to feel the stick and move. I have so much fun driving in this weather. And you can learn a lot about handling that would be useful when you guys start coming to my DE's........

and for those of us who put them away, be sure to overfill your tires by a few psi, unless you lift the car for the winter.

I usually overfill by quite a lot if a car is going to sit. On the early cars that run 36 I usually go 45-50 and on the rear S4 tires that normally run at 44 I'd overfill to 55. On the GTS's (36 f/r) I'd go 45-50... That is just me, but if the car is only going to sit a couple of months you probably don't need to go as high as I tend to run the pressures.

Pardon my ignorance, why do you OVERFILL the tires if the car is going to sit for an extended period?
