If you'd like to remove the oil filter without lifting the car or should it be can you, how does one do so?
I'm assuming the splash panel has to come out?
Is the splash panel all one piece?

And, where is the oil filter on a 1987 928?

I know strange question but I have made promises concerning not jacking the car up and getting under it. :)
I used one of those pumps to remove the oil and here I am wanting to replace the oil filter.

Thank you in advance.

Well, perhaps not in the spirit of your promise, but you wouldn't need to be under the car.... you could use a auto rotisseries or auto tilter

Porsche recommend changing the filter with every oil change.

As the filter is on the same side of the block as the drain plug the car should be level to drain all of the +8L.

If you dont want the car raised as the concern is upsetting the suspension the only alternative I know of is drive it over a pit. Yes, you have to remove the undertrays.

I've already vacuumed the oil out. So I'd like to remove the splash screen and reach under and remove the oil filter.
Do you know if I can remove the splash screen without raising the car?

Malcolm,
which "under tray" do I need to remove to access the oil filter?
Apparently there are two front undertrays from the pics I saw on the web.
Thanks in advance.

Thr front tray has to come off but I remove both as they're bolted together.

I dont know how youd get them off without a pit or lifting.......theres not enough clearnace.
