I just picked up my first 928 this past Memorial Day weekend and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Its an '82 in Grand Prix White with brown interior from the Virginia Beach area. It will be stored at my family's farm in Charlottesville while I do a few mechanical things (timing belt, water pump, thermostat sending unit, etc) and then its off to my full time residence in Northern Virginia. This is my second Porsche since I picked up an '02 986 Boxster this past September.
There are no known mechanical problems but the previous owner had little to no service history, which is why I'll be doing the timing belts and most likely the water pump and belt tensioner just to be safe. I'll be overhauling the interior overtime so I can still drive and enjoy the car.
I'm the taller one in the picture, with the previous owner in the yellow shirt. At 6'6", I've been pleasantly surprised how much legroom I have in the 928.

Great car. Love the originality, don't change a thing. I too picked up one over memorial day weekend in North Carolina. Enjoy.

At least with an 82 if the timing belt goes your engine does not detonate! Good luck and welcome to the pool.
Maybe I will see you on the road sometime here in Va,
