Ignition cylinder

Hey everyone, I recently posted about a no start problem that I was having with my 1988 S4. I replaced the starter motor and now I am looking to replace the ignition cylinder where the key goes and taking a look at terminal 50. Does anyone have tips on how to remove the ignition cylinder so that I can ether solder the terminal or replace the cylinder? Thanks again!

The key tumber (which provides lock out) is separate from the ignition switch. You do not have to replace where the key slides in.

The tumber is connected to the ignition switch by a short rod. The switch located under the instrument cluster and is held in by two small screws. The connector cap with the wires plugs into it. The photo best illustrates this.
