New member to site. I've owned my 928 since 2006. I mostly drove it for until 2013 when the automatic transmission began to slip. Fluid change showed clutch material so I decided to pull it. Bought a used 4 post rotary lift. Then rebuilt the torque tube with super bearings and the super clamp. Cleaned up rear suspension and installed new Bilstein shocks. Cleaned rear underside of car, sandblasted and painted bits and pieces. Got that back together and decided to do same thing to front. Just re-assembling front after motor mount, pan, and cross member change. I installed the 3 piece unit so I can drop pan easier if I ever half to again. New Bilstein shocks and all the little rubber parts. New lower ball joints and new covers on uppers. Reconnected the emission tubes to the manifolds as they were rusted away. I also stripped and painted all 4 calipers and replaced brake lines, pads, and rotors.
Water pump belt and fuel lines left. I've been on renn list since 2012 which helps with lots of tips.

Most of my work is during the long Michigan winters. Like to get done by this spring and drive again

Where did you find a three piece crossmember? Hopefully, you get your timing belt and waterpump job done before spring. This latest winter blast sure isn't helping. Can't believe what difference a week can make...50 degrees last Sunday...today...minus 20 with windchill.

928 Motorsports. www.928motorsports.com/parts/crossmember.php . He wants your old on as a core. He appears to be cleaning them up, cutting then and welding in 90 degree pieces with to pass bolt through. I think it will work great in future as u can leave motor mounts in place and just drop sway bar and steering system to get to pan. It came primed and I hit it with 3 coats rustolium black before installing. I had to pull manifold on drivers side and make a repair to the small breather tubes so I do not have that side back together yet. Almost reassembled then on to the WTB. I've been looking at all the steps in Dwayne's write up. Plan to rebuild everything and replace all small parts while at it

I did get a chance to see your post until this weekend. Back to warm weather in Michigan. We ran to Alpena snowmobiling but had to give up ghost by Saturday afternoon. No snow left on roads or main paths. Back in shop next weekend trying to finish front end reassembly. I just ordered 928 Motorsports grease able sway bar holders. My originals are stuck solid to sway bar. This option looked more functional. We shall see
