Looking for either a replacement engine, complete or an engine block for my '94 gts - anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks

Have you contacted Mark Anderson at 928 International?

First of all, thanks for the help. And, yes we have talked a couple times and I will touch base again - he was helpful and encouraging but said it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Someone from the factory is supposed to give me a buzz or an email with some information so I'm waiting. Interesting conundrum. I will let you know of my success and please, if you have other suggestions or contacts, let me know. Love the car - owned 3 years - on the road 1 week.
Thanks

Hate to hear of your issue. I'm assuming your existing engine situation is terminal? If there's any glimmer of hope for saving it, a call to Greg Brown of Precision Motorwerks might be time well spent:
www.precisionmtrwerks.com/
He is THE guru for these engines and has saved more than one. A fellow GTS owner had some rods "ventilate" his block a few years ago necessitating a replacement. Greg is very close to developing a fix for that block which has been sitting until such a method was created, in hopes of eventually being able to repair it and preserve it's "numbers matching" value.
While I own a GT, I have had some seat time behind a wheel of an excellent 94 GTS 5 speed. The low end torque is intoxicating, just a joy to drive. I hope to have one myself someday.
Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to respond and according to the mechanic currently working on it, the engine block can't be used at the moment. We've discussed welding the block but the "welder" won't guarantee it so neither will the mechanic (who was recommended by the local 928 club guru) who I believe to be qualified to complete the job. I will contact Greg and bounce some ideas around and see what he says. My ultimate goal is/was to put this car back to a "numbers matching" position but it seems like it's the proverbial needle in a haystack challenge.
Again, thanks for taking the time to respond and I will keep you posted on my success (failure is no an option).
