How many 1981 928 Euro's came to the U.S.

I saw 60 or so in the registry I was just wondering if there is a way to look it up. Also how would a Euro car have gotten hear would someone who lives in Europe and say moved here and wanted to bring their car have it special shipped? Just curious because we just picked up a 1981 5spd Euro with 70,000 origonal miles for my wife .She had a 1987 928 S4 10 years ago and regretted selling it so we picked this one up a week ago. I think the color is Metallic Ruby red very imacualate car inside and out and runs great.Thankyou Dave..oh its production number 0021

Your '81 Euro is no slouch in the way of performance, either. It would run well with the former '87.

Hard to say on the number of Euro spec cars here in the states. There are many more than you might think and I suspect more than 60 of your MY reside on this side of the pond.

Thankyou for the reply.The 81 Euro actually feels faster then the 87 we had, the 81 seems to really put you back in the seat when you punch it.I have been working on it a bit doing some suggested upgrades. Replaced the fuel lines with some custom ones a member on here makes. I think his name was Greg or Rick cant remember but he seems vey popular on hear,very nice person they fit perfect and didnt leak a drop.Also did some of the water lines and vacuume lines,still have more to do waiting for them to come in the mail. Also did an oil and air filter change.Next on the list is a new stereo amp and speakers. It does sound like the passenger rear wheel bearing is going out I can hear allot of road noise so I'll get both reaars replaced.When we bought the 81 it came with a 1985s sweet deal for 2 cars. The 1985 runs and looks great but needs some tlc.Nice talking to you. Hey one question do they make a Euro manual to go with the Euro carmight be fun to have,I supposed if they did though I wouldnt be able to read it

Good deal on the fuel lines. You must be referring to the ones offered by Greg Brown of Precision Motorwerks in Anaheim, CA.

For all MY 928s (ROW or US), I refer to the factory 9 volume Workshop Manual. You can access it in a .pdf file via a google search - "Porsche 928 Workshop Manuals"

There is the Morehouse CD, too. At least one of our vendors has copies available for purchase. I would recommend it.

Of course there are other great resources as well. Many good links right here from the OC website such as the Nichols 928 Tips page. The technical discussion forums are always helpful when all else fails.

Additionally, I would advise printing a copy of your fuse & relay chart to keep in your glove box for a quick reference to ID the various components of the CE panel. Never know when you might need it on the fly!

Your car utilizes a mechanical process for its fuel injection by way of Bosch K-jetronic, also known as CIS (Continuous Injection System). This system was in place on many vehicles. For finding info about it, you may explore info for other vehicles as it is often times applicable to the K-jet on your car. This info doesn't necessarily need to come from a 928 resource.
