**928 Track Day Event March 15-17,2013** was created by OBehave
After meeting with and talking with many about trying to organize a 928 get together at a race track, we are going to try and tag along with the Chesapeake region PCA at Virginia International Raceway on
March 15 thru 17, 2013! Mike aka Courtshark has approached the chairman of that region about us wanting to put together an event and he is on board!
He has also agreed to hold a generous amount of spots for 928 owners to be able to register and to get in. Official registration is in January and I will post definite dates and times when I have them. Linked is a thread that Mike started on Rennlist on the topic.
I strongly recommend anyone who owns one of these fabulous cars to try a Drivers Education event such as this at least once in your lifetime. This particular track will really show you the beauty of a 928!!

I think that is an EXCELLENT IDEA! Gary made a suggestion to me about having a regional 928OC Track Contact people who would keep up with track events in their part of the US and drum up 928 interest here and over on RL to see if we can have some better visibility at those events!
I love the idea if for no other reason than we would have folks informed of all the various track events around the country!!! I have been away from the track for far to long, but hope that business and time will both be better in 2013 (at least the latter half) to allow me for some more track events...heck, maybe even in the race car! What a concept!

Hey Ed,
Just watched a great VIR video on YouTube
It was on the GT3 forum on RL from NJ group down
at VIR on Nov 3rd....real impressive...maybe the best
VIR video I have seen in awhile...
Camera is mounted on the roll bar pretty far back
in the car and high up....you can see all the
hand positions and shifts......
Guy ran a consistent 2:15 per lap...good apex and braking...
A really instructive angle...rear view a little in the way
and the camera is really picking up alot of vibration noise
Check it out before you come on down...
Wish I was ready .....
2013 is my year.....

I am very interested in this one. I have been to VIR a few times and it is indeed awesome! It would be great to take a spin around it, even in a controlled line behind a pace car etc. I will definitely keep an eye on this to see if I can clear that weekend. Luckily it is early, before everything else in spring takes off, so the odds are good. VIR is about 4 hours away for me. Not a bad drive at all.
Great work, thanks for your effort!

I would love to learn all I can about this particular event and most likely participate. My local PCA group seems a bit passive about this type of activity even though we have The Nashville Super speedway just up the road. My S4 will have been completely tweeked by then and I will want see if the cash was well spent? No better way I can think of then a day at the track.
If one of you more learned 928er's would be willing to let me know what things need to be done to prepare my car for such an event I will certainly sigh up for March. Any additional info would be helpful!!
Thanks
Robert

Robert,
I was just like you until my first (1/2) DE just a few weeks ago. Ed and a few others really helped alleviate my fears and got me out there.
Things I needed to do:
1. get a helmet. Needs to meet Snell 2005 or 20010 testing.
2. prep your car: brake fluid flush and change within 30 days of the event, pads need to be 50% or better, rotors good. Throttle has to be free and not stick at all. You'll need to remove the floor mats and anything else that could become a projectile (day of). You should have a good battery hold-down and your spare tire needs to be secured or removed. No noticeable fluid leaks or stuff hanging off your car that could end up on the track and ruin the day for anyone else.
It's not as big a deal as you might think and getting on the track the first time is a HUGE rush. I'm thinking about heading down for this one too, but I need to completely go over my brakes before then. Mine started to fade on day 1 of my track day and I felt it was better to pass on day 2 since I had to drive home too.
Looks like there will be a huge 928 contingent there so it should be an awesome time.
Good luck!
