LED Headlight Conversion was created by ckbeiswenger
I have a USA spec 1986.5 928S and was looking at upgrading the headlights to LED but I am getting really confused on if this is even possible. I believe US models use the 9004 style bulb and I don't see where these are being converted properly to LED. I see that the Euro H4 units are easily converted (Woodypeck). Any insight into how to do this for a US spec car?

My solution was to replace the headlights with Euro H4s. I found they were still available from Porsche NA at about $370 each. You will probably pay more for used ones.

The euro H4s are really nice, even without the LEDs. They have a better dispersion pattern, with sharp cutoffs (e-code). I got a used pair for around $350 if I recall correctly, but it took a year of looking/watching eBay. There are more RHD used ones available than LHD, but you'll need LHD for the right cutoffs.
