Switch for rear hatch release?

I have gone through the owners manuals, but I can't find any reference to the switch that would release the rear hatch.
I see the electrical switching mechanism in the back. Where is the switch ? This is for my '79 and '83.
What am I missing?

My cars don't have those. If the switches would be next to the driver's seat, I guess mine just don't have switches.
