Brett, they actually work on my latest purchase (non-sunroof '87 manual, bought from a guy in Bristol who owned it for 9 years).
You could have knocked me down with a feather.. first 928 I've ever seen the hydraulic adjusters still working on.. and its mine
For the OP - there is a factory part that replaces the hydraulic actuator behind the lights and fixes their position. If you give up on repairing the system, you can buy a couple of these and use them to fix the lights in place.
Part number is: 928 631 201 02
They replace the little dumbell and hydraulic actuator behind the headlight, and fix the light in the "up" position so they're not pointing at the ground as they do when the adjuster system fails.

my adj. works i just need a knob the one on mine is all chewed up but it turns ok

does anyone have any ideas on what I can do or use to make a new knob or whare I can get one, every time I open the door its the first thing I see and it doesn't look good. I check ebay every day and I have not found one yet.
