drivers seat

In need of drivers seat for my 1981 928. Should I be concerned about model year for proper fit? Would appreciate advice.

There are Comfort and Sport seats in all years (I think). You presumably want to match your current Passenger seat. The default Comfort seat style changed in later years, so an S4 seat would be different for example. There can also be differences in how many adjustment seat directions are powered depending on selected options, and whether you have seat memory positioning (the control module is mounted under the seat even though the memory controls are in the door if you have them).

Thanks for your info about different style seats. I should be able to tell by looking at it. What I'm concerned about is mounting it in the car do holes line up and is elect connections the same. I'm leaving the Porsche in Tucson and driving my SUV 200 miles West to pick it up at a Junkyard. I want to make sure it fits.

The seat change is '85 actually. '85 and up seats are all the same (ie, all the comforts seats are the same for those MY's and all the Sport seats are the same for those MY's.) The 84 and older cars almost all have the comfort seats. The sport seats for those early years were the sport seats out of the 911 IIRC.

James has got this one right. There were pre-MY85 cars that had Sport seats, but these seats aren't the same as the later Sport seats. The later Sport seats won't work as the electrical plugins are different.
