Hatch release button?

Sheesh I feel dumb but, if my '82 has a rear hatch release I can't find it. There is clearly a couple of wires leading into the release mechanism but that's where it 'ends'.

Does anyone have a suggestion of where I should look? Could the PO deleted this? I'm puzzled. :confused:

I thought that the hatch release was '84 and up.

John, it might have been '83 when it was introduced (with the US S cars), but certainly they are not in '82 or older 928's...

You can look at them, but you don't have a button for the release because you don't even have a hatch release motor back there!

Wires in the hatch area are for the wiper motor. As others have said, there is no remote hatch release for 1982 which is odd for such an expensive car.
