Restore or Replace?

When I took the interior out of my '88 I removed all of the carpets. Then I washed them in a washing machine. They cleaned up surprisingly well. I couldn't put lower door panel carpets without stripping them - same for the panels between the seats and doors. Last night I steam cleaned them. The water that came out was really dark, but now they are dried they look great - almost new. I just have to figure out the best brush to fluff the Silverknit pile.
So the carpets are still original, and almost look like new.

There is something rewarding about bringing a piece back. Other times I just F-it and buy new

Wire Brush? small brass one maybe.

I tried a cat brush with very fine wire 'bristles' (something like this ). It seemed to work really well in de-clumping the pile.
