Out of more than idle curiosity;
Do you mind stating how much the conversion cost you for all the parts?
Would you be able to estimate the time required for the average backyard mechanic?

Good to hear it is working out for you :D

I do not mind at all Stan

I bought the TEC-4 GT off of Carl
www.928motorsports.com/parts/tec_gt_engine_management.php

At the link above it states this
  • The entire stock ignition system (yes)
  • The entire stock fuel injector system (This is not true, nothing supplied)
  • The entire fuel injector wiring harness (you get the ECM and 32 wires/connector)
  • The distributor caps, ignition coils, and spark plug wires (removed)
  • The stock LMB (injection) computer (delete)
  • The stock EZK (ignition) computer. (delete)
  • The stock MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor (delete)
I was also only given the one harness and had to build my own power harness which it looks like electromotive supplies with the kits.
I didnt ask as it will be the last purchase of thousands left to spend :p

His price for my car was $3520 plus it was when our dollar was low so it cost me $4000

The fuel rails were$260
www.928motorsports.com/parts/aluminum_fuel_rail_kit.php
He removed from stock the steel braided lines which I think were around the same so I spent around $500 plus for lines and chrome rails
I also had to buy bulk line and fittings to complete the kit

Malcom sent me his used FPR for shipping but I padded it.

Now with the TEC kit install I did the upper intake refresh, head gaskets, used silicon vacuum lines.
I bought a full engine gasket kit from Roger
bought performence head gaskets from Carl $200 which Ive desided not to use(still have them)
bought the PK tentioner
bought the super clamp
I'm forgetting lots

928ms upper control arms, drilled rotors from roger, electronic window switches, wheels off Malcolm

We think I spent around $10,000 or more. + $145 amsoil, $$ coolent, $$ paint

Ok the second part of the question.
Can a back yard mechanic install this kit.

I would say not if you have all the trouble that I had, with some connectors missing, diode missing, wrong Map sensor making my first time learning the program and trying to tune accordingly a nightmare. Some glitches in the manual including incorrect connections to the LH/EZK relay,
but
Now that I know what I know it would be much easier.

If you can do your own wiring, to build your own harness, then we/I/and others can talk someone through the install.

I do like the kit but I can not compair it to any others.
I think Lizard on rennlist has done a few installs of different kits.

Did I leave anything out?

I was only thinking of the electromotive and related parts. Just in case I decide I need to get away from the stock electrics :)

I am sure you could handle it but it is a lot of work.

It is best to tune it on a dyno but I don't have that option so its done on the street and while I drive it.

It is a much more modern system that compliments our engine.

Shop around, send electromotive an e-mail for the closest dealer
