Fuel pump and filter

Fuel pump and filter was created by Gumbybarton
This is my first post so bear with me but I'm trying to figure out what pumps and filters I need to try and get my car running again when I pulled the rear cover I found only a pump and no filter it doesn't look like there's room for one and the second pump is in rear passenger wheel well is this normal and what else should I do to the car it's been sitting a long time it's a 78 thanks for any info.

The first photo that you posted is the fuel pressure accumulator, not a fuel pump.
The 1978 & 1979s had two fuel pumps, one an in-tank andthe external one that you posted.
Depending upon the build date of your 1978, different items are shown in PET.
#1 Internal fuel pump:
928 608 013 00
#7 External fuel pump:
911 608 102 00
911 608 102 02
#29 Fuel accumulator:
928 110 197 05 or 07
#39 Fuel filter:
928 110 147 09
My 1979 928 was not driven for over 10 years and the fuel wasn't drained. To get it running, I had to replace the fuel pumps, fuel accumulator, rebuild the fuel distributor and replace all the fuel injectors.

Thanks for the reply this 78 has pump on back of tank and one in rear passenger wheel well and the filter and pressure thing is in front of that wheel well

Some of the very early 1978s had different fuel plumbing.

Yeah that's how I found the filter was from a picture in service manual but now I'm in middle of replacement of all the rubber fuel hoses but next I would like any information on rebuilding the accumulator and the fuel distributor thanks again for the help
