Will be moving to NS (just outside Halifax) next month and will be fully restoring an 87 S4 to showroom. Does anyone have any suggestions on who / where the best place is to do this project?

Anyone had good luck / used Halifax Porsche for such projects?

Car is in good condition but I aim to bring it back to like new condition inside and out. I have seen too many of these amazing cars abused and butchered over the years, time to bring one back to full life.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

Stay away from any Porsche dealership, they simply do not know the 928 well enough. You will also spend way-way more going this route, find an indy or ship the car to a known specialist.

That was my worry... been a while since they had 928s on a regular basis.

Trouble is I dont know one and I am not finding a local specialist looking online, anyone have a suggestion / any current 928 owners in the Halifax area have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Paul

I'd contact Porsche of Halifax and ask them if they know anyone who could restore it. They have a great article about the 928 on their website which is encouraging.

I have reached out to Porsche Halifax and plan to go visit them at the start of April. If I get a good vibe and they can show me past / present restorations on simular cars then maybe I will go with them.

I would love it if they could manage the project(s) as I think it adds to the history of the car more over than an independent shop. But I do worry about the level of hands on experience with the older cars todays dealerships have. I feel like its a chicken and egg paradox!

I am restoring 12 (for now) Pcars and plan to fully document each build, I am hoping that perhaps my full collection may be featured somehow and can help showcase these wonderful cars / keep the next generation excited about them.

I just picked up a well known 90 GT supercharged car... this should be an interesting challenge for the garage that I take this car to for servicing.

Paul, I don't know of anyone in your area, but David Chamberland, in Billerica, Massachusetts is an expert on the 928, and does get involved in restorations. He also has a supercharged 928 in his stable.

He is a 928OC member and also is on Rennlist forum (worf928) if you try to get in touch with him.

The article on Number #1 vin is from the Christophorus magazine and is owned by a friend of mine down in Connecticut. It is amazingingly original as he found it with the exception of the body which he addressed.
