Old gas was created by Vince
My 928 has been sitting unused for about four years now, while life has prevented me from indulging my hobby. I'm about to finish my work on it, and I became concerned about the gas that has been sitting in the tank and in the lines for the last several years.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what concerns I should have before starting the thing up, and if concerns, what measures to take to alleviate those concerns and make things right?

Thanks !!!

Vince.

4 years?? No problem, most likely. :)

Fuel usually takes more time than that to varnish.

Well, it used to. If the fuel contains ethanol, it will be bad.

Too bad Vince didn't tell us what the model year is (always a good thing to give all of the car info when asking for help - model year, auto/manual, USA/RoW at a minimum), else we could have suggested the easiest and safest way to remove the old fuel.

I have found that 6 months of ethanol laced fuel and it starts to gum up.

Sorry guys, for the lack of detail. I'd had a long day and was wiped out and just threw the question out there without thinking.
I 've got an 86.5S,Auto, USA model, 72K miles.
I'm going to guess that there's about five gallons of fuel left in the tank. The gauge reads just above the reserve light - how accurate is that? I don't know, but I have run it down in the past and never run out of gas...So I assume it's pretty much on.

Thanks for your responses, and if there's any more detail anyone has it'll be GREATLY appreciated.

Put some Stabil in there, filler up and good to go, hopefully.
