Looking to borrow a working LH for an 87

Drove the car fine over the weekend, today only cranks, no start. Fuse is fine pulled it and tried the foot to the floor test, nada. Pulled a couple plugs, dry. So I will try jumping the fuel pump relay. If I have fuel pump buzz what then? LH right?

Also had the ignition on at lunch when searhing other things out and click, click, click, click...... Pulled the fuel pump relay and replaced it with a working one from the horn, no dice.

What sayeth the brain trust, anyone have a working LH that will fit an '87 I can try before i pony up to have mine rebuilt? Where do I send it for rebuild, JDS in England is best right?

Rather than install a known good LH in your car and possibly damage its common practice to remove your suspect LH and fit it to a good running car that way you can follow the fault if there is one.

Make sure you test the fuel pump first by jumpering the FP relay.

Did the jump for the fuel pump, heard the buzz. Thanks for the tip on taking mine out first.

If I jump the fuel pump relay is it safe to back it from the driveway into my garage?

Yes, but remove the jumper when you are done, otherwise the fuel pump will continue to run.

That's a sure sign of LH failure. Verify spark so that you can rule out the CPS. If spark is present, a brain rebuild is probably due.

I suggest that you take him up on both of them. In addition, if yours needs a rebuild, Rich does an outstanding job with that and his charge is very reasonable, especially given the quality of the rebuild.
